Fort Worth, Texas - Come join the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) for a ranch gathering Saturday, May 14, at the Bar D Ranch in Chappell Hill. The gathering will begin at 3 p.m. with presentations followed by a free beef dinner.
"TSCRA ranch gatherings are a great place for folks to get together and discuss what is going on in the cattle business and how they can help," said Joe Parker, Jr., a rancher and TSCRA president. "TSCRA Special Rangers will be on hand to discuss the rise in cattle and equipment theft and what ranchers can do to protect themselves."
Additionally, experts will discuss huisache control. According to the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, huisache is a common plant on rangeland and pasture in the eastern half of Texas. It is a tough, aggressive, invasive species that limits forage production and decreases the value of the wildlife habitat.
The event is open to the public. All members of the press are invited to attend.
The Bar D Ranch is located at 4721 Langhorn Road in Chappell Hill.
The ranch gathering is sponsored by Blue Bell Creameries, Brenham Produce, Cattlemen's Brenham Livestock Auction, Cattleman's Supply, DuPont, Four County Livestock Auction, H.R. Uechert Site Contractor, Hodde Real Estate, Hodde Land and Cattle, M and C Equipment, Mike Hopkins Budweiser, Navasota Livestock Auction, Producers Co-Op, Purina Mills, Texas Ag Finance, Triple S Cattle Co., TZ Cattle Co, and Washington County Tractor-New Holland.
