FREE BQA Certification This Month!
Are you doing your part for the industry by getting BQA certified? Well, if you haven't, have we got a deal for you! Your checkoff-funded Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program is giving you the chance to become certified for free thanks to a partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. and the Beef Cattle Institute (BCI) housed at Kansas State University. The cost of BQA certification is normally $25-$50; however, between Feb. 11, 2013 and March 15, 2013, Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. will defray the cost of the certification, making it free for producers. Those interested in taking advantage of this BQA certification opportunity should start at www.BIVI-BQA.com.
New CBB Chairman: Commitment and Volunteerism
Cow/calf producer Weldon Wynn from Star City, Ark., was elected by fellow Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) members to serve as CBB chairman in 2013. The vote came during the 2013 Cattle Industry Annual Convention in Tampa, Fla.
Beef Sustainability Assessment
Participants at the 2013 Cattle Industry Convention gathered to hear the results of the first-ever Beef Industry Sustainability Assessment. The assessment, which was funded by the Beef Checkoff Program, marks the first time any industry has ever measured the sustainability of its entire supply chain. This important work positions the beef industry to lead the conversations about industry sustainability. Watch a related video here.
Meet Your Beef Ambassador Team
The National Beef Ambassadors, funded in part by the beef checkoff, are a group of busy young people who have been on the road educating consumers about beef and beef production, as well as in their own states and local communities. During the Cattle Industry Convention, they freshened up their cow facts by attending the Cattlemen’s College, chatted with different producers from across the country and help spread the importance of beef by telling their story.
Next on their list of trips is the Boston Marathon where they will connect with runners and share their passion for beef, as well as exercise and being healthy.
