Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 3:40 pm

Today's Estimated Sales Volume:    7,000



  Trade was slow on Wednesday in Kansas on light to moderate demand.

Live sales traded 7.00 to 8.00 lower than the bulk of the sales last

week at 156.00 to mostly 157.00. Trading remains mostly inactive in all other 

regions. Wednesday afternoon boxed beef cutout values were weak to lower on 

light demand and light to moderate offerings. Choice was down .47 at 242.41 with 

Select down 3.12 to close at 231.13 on 204 loads. The hide and offal value from 

a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 15.89 per cwt live, up 0.04 

when compared to Tuesday's value. The estimated cattle slaughter for Wednesday 

was reported at 101,000. December CME live cattle contracts were down 2.55 to 

settle at 156.42 with February contracts down 2.92 to settle at 155.82.

more frequently during active trading periods.
