Red meat hasn’t been able to catch a break in news this week, but not everyone has been deterred by the bad press. Take Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, for example.

“I take a vitamin every day,” Harbaugh said on his weekly radio show, reported Mark Cunningham of Fox Sports. “It’s called a steak.”

His comment came as a victory to cattlemen everywhere. Harbaugh classified steak as a “natural steroid,” reported Mike Foss of USA Today.

Harbaugh’s list of natural steroids also include sleep, whole milk and water. Harbaugh’s natural remedies don’t end there. Bleacher Report’s Katie Richcreek reported Harbaugh claimed to prescribe milk and pushups to a player with pneumonia.

Harbaugh’s idea of healthy living may not be the most conventional, but who knows – maybe he’s onto something.
