Greg Henderson
was named editor of Drovers in 1992, becoming only the fourth person to hold that position since 1920. In 1995 he was promoted to Associate Publisher/Editor. Greg joined Drovers as an associate editor in 1984, and served as marketing editor and managing editor prior to becoming editor. Greg earned a B.S. in Agricultural Journalism with a minor in Ag Economics, and an M.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications from Kansas State University. He worked four years for a Kansas regional ag newsweekly before joining Drovers. Raised on a ranch in the southern Flint Hills of Kansas, Greg remains actively involved in beef production as part-owner of the family operation. Greg resides in Olathe, Kan., with wife Ruth and children Lisa and Jared. Greg was a co-recipient of the 1993 Oscar in Agriculture, and the 2000 Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award.
John Maday
Managing Editor, Drovers
John Maday was raised in southern Wisconsin, and worked on diversified crop and livestock farms through high school and college. He earned a B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Wisconsin and an M.S. in Agricultural Extension Education from the University of Florida. Following graduate school, John worked at the University of Florida for six years, writing instructional materials and coordinating in-service training for Extension agents and vocational agriculture instructors. He spent 18 months in the West African nation of Cameroon teaching at the national college of agriculture and worked in agricultural public relations prior to joining the Drovers staff in 1993. He currently resides in Fort Collins, Colo., covering feedyards and western cow-calf production for Drovers. John's family includes wife Jane, son Ian and daughter Margaret. John was a co-recipient of the 1993 Oscar in Agriculture, and the 2000 Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award.
John Nalivka
Economic Consultant, Drovers
John Nalivka is president and owner of Sterling Marketing, Inc., an Agricultural Economic Research and Advisory firm located in Vale, Ore. He earned a B.S. in Animal science from the University of Idaho, and an M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Nevada at Reno. Prior to joining Sterling Marketing in 1991, John worked for Oregon State University, the USDA in Washington, D.C., and for the Helming Group in Kansas City. He has also worked on ranches in Wyoming and Nevada. John became economic consultant for Drovers in 1992.
