The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the first Arturo Armendariz Distinguished Service Award. The award honors the heart and soul of the industry — feedyard employees. These men and women play a crucial role in improving the quality of beef and the industry as a whole.

The award was estabilished in honor of the late Kansas resident and long-time employee at Poky Feeders, Arturo Armendariz. Armendariz, who passed away in August 2008 and spent nearly three decades at Poky Feeders, Garden City, Kan., helping grow the business from 17,000-head capacity to 63,000. Under his skillful management, Poky Feeders’ mill output reached 2 million pounds per day.

Armendariz was a devoted employee, family man, friend and longtime member of the beef industry. The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame is proud to dedicate this award in his name.
