Last winter, it got so cold that the liquid in the propane tanks wouldn’t vaporize and flow properly. To prevent that from happening again, these three 1,000-gallon propane tanks were buried, says John Johnson, a producer from Eaton, Colo. The bottom of the tank rests about 7 feet underground, and the top of the tank is covered with about 3 feet of soil, thus providing insulation for the tanks.
