Mike Clark, Burkeville, Va., seeds clover in pastures at the same time he spreads poultry litter. He attached a Gandy insecticide box with an electric motor on the back of a poultry litter spreader. With the flip of a switch, clover seed is spread with the lime or litter. A light in the cab lets the operator know when the seeder is on. Clark says a truck load of litter usually covers 4 to 4.5 acres, and the clover seeder holds 25 pounds of clover. He says the cost is $500 to $600.
