In Drover's December 1999 issue, Ron McNear, producer from Koshkonong, Mo., sent in a profit tip titled "No distractions." The tip explained how Mr. McNear developed his own solid-sided alleyways to block out scary sights and movements that kept his cows from moving forward in his corral system.

After running the tip, we found that many other producers wanted to try the same thing in their corrals but had trouble finding out where to purchase the recycled ultraviolet-stabilized plastic sheeting Mr. McNear used.

The company that sells the Poly-Max white poly rolls is FarmTek in Dyersville, Iowa. They are a mail order specialty hardware and farm supply store. The actual sheeting Mr. McNear used was 1/16-inch x 48-inch wide high-density polyethylene. FarmTek sells the sheeting in 50-foot rolls or will cut to the exact length you need for $1.61 per foot. The order number is XR107-3.
