To end arguments over who has to get the gate, Calvin Christensen, Big Timber, Mont., created a quick and easy method of opening and shutting the gates on his ranch. By bolting on a wheel to the bottom of the gate, it's easier to open and takes pressure off the hinges, extending the life of the gate.

The tire is a red wagon style tire with a 1/2-inch roller bearing in it. Mr. Christensen says that the bigger the diameter the wheels are, the easier it will roll over rough ground or snow. Gates now roll open and shut easily making the job easier.
