Weed control in corn crops is essential to produce good-quality feed, but it can be expensive. WeedSOFT, a new computer program that evaluates herbicide decisions, can help. On-farm evaluations determined that computer-assisted corn herbicide recommendations were just as effective as traditional grower-selected treatments  —  and cost less.

In field studies, growers achieved 96 percent or higher weed control with the WeedSOFT recommendations and saved on average $6 to $15 per acre on herbicide cost. For more information, call 402-472-1547 or visit the Web site at http://weedsoft.unl.edu
