Much of the pasture and rangeland around the U.S. is considered to be in fair, good or excellent condition by USDA reports. Drought remains a serious problem, however, for many cow-calf producers throughout central and western Montana, Northwestern Wyoming and other regions in the Northwest.

The Montana State University Extension Service offers a great deal of information about coping with drought– for homeowners, gardeners, ranchers and farmers. A list of publications and articles that may be of help or offer ideas on how to cope with the drought are available on the Web at the Montana State Web site.
