Stocker and feeder prices declined $1 to $3 during July, according to Drovers’ exclusive 50-market auction summary.
 
July’s drop is the second consecutive month of decreases, following four consecutive months of increases for stocker and feeder prices. Steer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds saw average bids of $108.31 per hundredweight, a decline of $1.32. Yearling steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds dropped $1.63 per hundredweight to average $98.04. Heifer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds brought an average of $96.52, a decrease of $2.98 per hundredweight. Yearling heifers weighing more than 600 pounds gained 32 cents per hundredweight to average $88.73 during July.
