Strong buyer demand supported the market, and March marks the third consecutive month for higher prices and represents the highest levels since early last fall. Prices for steer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds gained $1.38 per hundredweight to $108.96. Yearling steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds increased $1.15 per hundredweight to average $93.42. Heifer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds gained 33 cents per hundredweight to average $93.46. Yearling heifers averaged $81.12 per hundredweight during March, a decrease of 20 cents.
