Stocker and feeder cattle found bids $6 to $8 higher on all classes during April, according to Drovers’ exclusive 50-market auction summary. Steer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds saw average bids of $129.46 per hundred-weight, $7.48 higher than March’s average. Yearling steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds gained $8.34 per hundredweight to average $113.45. Heifer calves sold for an average of $115.13 during April, an increase of $6.45 per hundredweight. Yearling heifers weighing more than 600 pounds saw average bids of $98.35, an increase of $5.96 per hundredweight.
