Semi-truck wreck kills 26 head of cattle in Nevada

A semi-truck pulling a load of cattle through Minden, Nev., on March 12 wrecked mid-afternoon, Transportation killing 26 of the 66 head on board.

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, Nevada Highway Patrol’s investigation into the accident determined the truck driver failed to stop at an intersection traffic light and struck a Subaru.

NHP Sgt. Gabor Visnovits says the driver of the truck was flown to Regional Medical Center in Reno and no other injuries occurred.

Surviving cattle were gathered and transported to a nearby ranch.

The truck also ripped out 100 feet of fencing and a power line, leaving more than 2,300 NV Energy customers without power.
