China will have Midwestern agricultural practices on display, starting next year. In the Hebei Province, a farm is being built to model an Iowa farm operated by Rick and Martha Kimberley, northeast of Des Moines.

Chinese president Xi Jinping visited the Iowa farm in 2012. The farm’s purpose is to build further friendship between Hebei and Iowa and shine a light on agriculture diplomacy.

The Kimberley family farm consists of grain bins, machine sheds and house. The barn previously on the premises has been removed.

The farm is created in part through the Iowa’s Sister States program, which has had ties to the Hebei Province for many years. It will serve as a tourism component as part of a larger Epcot-style theme park focused around the American Midwest.
