Colorado’s Jolly Ranch and S&L Cattle are the new world champion team of the 2016 World Championship Ranch Rodeo. Jolly Ranch and S&L Cattle won the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) championship on the strength of two event wins in wild cow milking and stray gathering. The team totaled 85.5 points. This is their second title after winning in 2014.

Sandhill Cattle Co. from Texas took home the reserve world championship for the second time. The Texas team has previously won three championships.

The difference between first and second place was 14 points, which was one of the highest point differentials in the event’s history.

The rodeo took place in Amarillo, Texas this past weekend from Nov. 10-13 with 22 teams participating. Ranches from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma were represented.

Placing teams were awarded cash prizes, tack, coolers and ropes. The overall winners from Colorado won buckles, custom gate signs, saddles, a stock trailer and a team trophy.
