The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) is engaging with health professionals at two different meetings this month to provide accurate information about beef nutrition. KBC sponsored a lean beef lunch and a speaker for the 110 nutritionists and nutrition educators attending the Kansas Nutrition Council Conference earlier this week in Lawrence. Checkoff dollars were used to bring in University of Missouri Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology Heather Leidy to talk about “Exploring the benefits of increased dietary protein for improved appetite control, satiety and weight management.”
KBC will sponsor a presentation by registered dietitian and professional triathlon coach Kim Schwabenbauer for the 120 registered dietitians expected to attend the Kansas Dietetic Association (KDA) Conference, April 24 in Wichita. Schwabenbauer will be the speaker for two sessions, one of which is titled “Sports nutrition in the real world – translating research into reality.” KDA members also will dine on lean beef at lunch, courtesy of KBC.
