Sunday night loose cattle caused two car crashes just south of the west U.S. Highway 281 and Kansas Highway 18 junction.

Russell County Sheriff's were called just before 10 p.m. stating that several black cattle were on the highway and that the animals' owner was aware of the situation and enroute, David Elliott reported for Kansas' KRSL radio station.

A woman struck one of the animals, but she was not injured.

A second accident occured when a vehicle struck a stopped vehicle at the scene. One person involved in the second accident did go to the hospital.
