A Laurel County, Ky., man was arrested this week and charged with animal cruelty for not helping an injured cow on his property for three days.

66-year-old Sherman Jones is accused of leaving the cow in a ditch in below freezing temperatures for three days, according to Laurel County sheriff’s deputies as reported by Kentucky’s WKYT television station on January 5. The cow was not able to walk or stand. Jones left the cow without feeding it or getting it help.

Jones was also charged with disorderly conduct after interactions with a deputy sheriff on the scene.
