Choice boxed beef dropped slightly throughout this week, starting off on September 8 at $239.16 per hundredweight and moving to $235.14 per hundredweight by September 14. The 27-day average price now rests at $241.76.

Choice primal rib fell during the week. Last week, primal rib kicked off September 8 at $339.48 per hundredweight and ended September 8 at $330.26 per hundredweight. the largest fall was from Thursday when the price was at $336.85 to Friday when it dropped to $330.12.

Each week the Cattle Trader Center, on behalf of Merck Animal Health, awards a $100 gift certificate from Cabela's to the industry leader whose forecast comes closest to the 5-Area cash trade number reported by the USDA. The most recent winner was Wayne Lee, Cattle Empire.
