RFD-TV News announced last week that Market Day Report – its daily live news program devoted exclusively to the agriculture industry – is the winner of the 2015 Cablefax Award in the news category for “Best Show or Series.”
The selection was announced in New York City during the annual Cablefax Program Awards, which recognize the cable industry’s best programming content. Other nominees were news programs aired by Al Jazeera America, CNBC, HLN, NY1 News, and the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
“This award represents much-appreciated recognition of Market Day Report and the void it fills. As the only broadcaster in the nation focused on the agribusiness, it's a great honor to be recognized for the comprehensiveness of our coverage and the overall impact of our presentation and the significantly enhanced teleproduction capabilities from our new facility in Nashville. We're proud to serve Rural America and the hardworking people who feed our great nation and much of the world,” said Gary Kanofsky, RFD-TV’s chief content officer and executive vice president for news.
Market Day Report was revamped in April with state-of-the-art studios and upgraded production capabilities including 3D graphics, best-of-breed video display systems and expanded real-time commodities and market data. The show reaches approximately 50 million households on RFD-TV and is simulcast to 28 million subscribers on RURAL RADIO on SiriusXM, channel 147. Ratings for the program, which airs daily agribusiness news including weather and commodity market updates from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade, have jumped 32 percent in six months.
“I’m so proud of the Market Day Report news team, led by Gary Kanofsky,” said Patrick Gottsch, founder and president of RFD-TV. “The five hours of original content they produce each weekday is proving to be so important to rural America. With this Cablefax award, the Market Day Report team is getting the recognition they’ve truly earned, and deserve.”
Market Day Report airs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (ET) on RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO SiriusXM channel 147. For a full schedule of news programming on RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO and its programs please visit rfdtv.com or ruralradio147.com.
