U.S. beef export sales and shipments improved last week with sales up 13 percent from the previous week. Sales improved by 2,007 metric tons to 17,340 MT, moving last week’s sales above the 27-week average. The increases moved the four-week average higher by five percent over the previous figure. Increases were reported for Mexico (4,300 MT), Japan (3,600 MT), Canada (2,900 MT), Vietnam (1,900 MT), and Hong Kong (1,000 MT).
Beef export shipment gains nearly matched last week’s sales, gaining 12 percent to 17,313 metric tons. Export shipments gained 1,811 metric tons, increasing for the second consecutive day and finishing the week only 221 MT below the 10-week high. Export shipments were primarily to Japan (4,600 MT), Canada (3,500 MT), and Mexico (3,500 MT). South Korea, and Vietnam received 1,600 MT and 1,000 MT respectively.
