This week the 5-Area Accumulated Average Cattle Price saw an increase this week to hit $147.45.
Our panel of cattle industry experts who make up the Monday Market Sentiment was pretty close with a guess of $145.66 per hundredweight. This week, the panel projects the 5-Area price to increase to $149.01.
Choice boxed beef increased throughout this week, starting off on July 28 at $232.15 per hundredweight and moving to $233.99 per hundredweight by August 3.
Choice primal rib also saw a positive change. Last week, primal rib kicked off July 28 at 322.77 per hundredweight and ended August 3 at $323.98 per hundredweight. The price movement set the 27-day average to $332.82 per hundredweight.
Each week the Cattle Trader Center, on behalf of Merck Animal Health, awards a $100 gift certificate from Cabela's to the industry leader whose forecast comes closest to the 5-Area cash trade number reported by the USDA. The most recent winner was Joe Morgan, Poky Feeders.
