The 5-Area Accumulated Average Cattle Price continues to fall this week, dropping from $134.46 last week to $131.74 on February 15.
The panel of cattle industry experts who make up our Monday Market Sentiment were optimistic with a prediction of $133.68 per hundredweight. This week, they decreased their estimation to $132.68 per hundredweight.
Choice boxed beef slipped throughout the week, starting Feb. 10 at $218.19 per hundredweight, and ending Feb. 16 on $214.49 per hundredweight. The increase moved the 27-day average to $215.29 per hundredweight.
Each week the Cattle Trader Center, on behalf of Merck Animal Health, awards a $100 gift certificate from Cabela's to the industry leader whose forecast comes closest to the 5-Area cash trade number reported by the USDA. The most recent winner was Joe Kovanda, Bartlett Cattle.
