Our panel of cattle industry experts who make up the Monday Market Sentiment had an average guess of $127.30 per hundredweight, which was just a little optimistic. This week, the panel projects the 5-Area price to increase to $126.88
Choice boxed beef increased slightly throughout this week, starting off on November 24 at $202.79 per hundredweight and increasing to $205.65 per hundredweight by November 30. The 27-day average price now rests at $212.78.
Choice primal rib jumped during the week. Last week, primal rib kicked off November 24 at $368.46 per hundredweight and ended November 30 at $364.24 per hundredweight.
Each week the Cattle Trader Center, on behalf of Merck Animal Health, awards a $100 gift certificate from Cabela's to the industry leader whose forecast comes closest to the 5-Area cash trade number reported by the USDA. The most recent winner was Wesley Davis, JBS Five Rivers.
