Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.28 million cattle on feed on July 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was up 2 percent from last year. This is the highest July 1 inventory since the data series began in 1994.

Placements during June totaled 375,000 head, down 3 percent from 2014.

Fed cattle marketings for the month of June totaled 480,000 head, down 4 percent from last year.

Other disappearance during June totaled 15,000 head, down 10,000 from last year.
