A crash involving a truck carrying cattle has closed down both directions of Interstate 75 in southeastern Kentucky.

The crash occurred before dawn Wednesday in the northbound lanes of I-75 in Whitley County, near the 22 mile marker near the Tennessee state line.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported cattle roaming the interstate caused additional accidents before the Kentucky State Police closed the highway.

No serious injuries had been reported, but several cattle had been killed.

Police said a section of the highway would remain closed until at least 10 a.m. EDT. Traffic was being diverted onto U.S. 25.
