A shortage of forage and hay used to feed livestock has led Governor Rick Perry to declare a state of disaster in Texas as reported by Examiner.com.

The low supply of forages and hay for winter feeding has forced Texas cattle ranchers to purchase feed from outside the state, if they can afford it. The drought has resulted in about $3.6 billion in losses for the agricultural industry.
