Live cattle futures gapped lower on Thursday, posting new contract lows, but did manage to settle more than 2.00 off of those lows in the February contract. Today is expiration day for the December options, which could trigger another active trading session. Equities are recovering moderately from there selloff on Thursday, while the Dollar has bounced back 50 points from its' washout. This morning monthly jobs numbers should provide some direction. Cutouts were up .41 and .77 in choice and select cuts. Cash trade came in $2.00 below a week ago in the south at $125.00.

Feeder cattle futures gapped lower on Thursday, but did manage to close that gap and close in the upper end of the trading range. Higher corn prices on Thursday, along with the sharp selloff in the fats provided momentum for the early trade. The cash index was off 1.58 for the day but remains 11.00 premium to the January futures. Overnight corn values are narrowly mixed, awaiting this mornings' job report.
