Live Cattle
Short Term: Down
Long Term: Down
Opening Calls: Mixed

Live cattle futures closed modestly lower on Friday, showing some resiliance in the face of sharp breaks in the equities and the weeks' cash trade. Weekend weather could slow beef production, with most of the cattle feeding region experiencing rain, snow and/or ice over a two day period. Equities are softer overnight and the Dollar is modestly higher heading into this weeks' Fed meetings and expectation of an interest rate rise for the 1st time in 8 years. Could be a big week for many markets, as see how they react to the potential rate change.

Feeder Cattle
Short Term: Down
Long Term: Down
Opening Call: 20-40 Lower

Feeder cattle futures closed moderately lower on Friday, with most of the pressure stemming from the declining cash market and struggling equity markets. Today's cash index might not be down as much as initially expected, which could provide some support to the still discounted futures market. Corn is modestly higher overnight in a fairly quiet start to the week.
