Yesterday, I received a note from a good friend expressing her annoyance with a fear-monger named Vani Hari, a woman who self-describes as the "Food Babe." She prefers the name Food Babe but she branches out into other fields too, all without a factual compass.
Big ag, big food, big pharma; they've all taken their lumps for being too big, too evil, too bad and too bottom line money oriented. They are nothing more than monstrous, soulless entities. But 'big' is something usually required to finance big things. A really big idea needs generous inputs of big money to become a reality and that's when a big business comes in handy.
Big ag, little ag, hobby ag, cattle business, corn business: whatever it is that you do out on the farm, it's time to make up your mind about what you really want from your local, state and federal elected officials.
Fortunately, in the greater scheme of things, 'activist' videos of animal abuse are rare and reflect only the tiniest, criminal portion of animal agriculture. That they surface at all and those people caught doing the most vile things imaginable to the animals entrusted to their care react in the same, predictable fashion is still disgusting.
We've fought ugly wars over oil. We've developed horrendously expensive infrastructures where nothing existed before so we can transport oil from where it was to where it needed to be. Tankers the size of small cities ply the oceans to bring oil from there to here.
A flag has been tossed....again....and the ref has blown his whistle....again. All that remains is the short time it will take him to turn on the public address system and make the same announcement he made the last time the same illegal play was called.
