Feedyard Team Growth & Education Workshops to be Held in June
This summer, Midwest PMS, which provides supplements, commodities and nutritional consulting services, and Production Animal Consultation (PAC), a group of beef cattle veterinary consultants serving food animal producers all over the globe, will host two workshop training events for feedyard managers and employees to build their operational knowledge and hone their leadership skills.
“Adversity in a feedyard is a daily event,” says Dr. Nels Lindberg, PAC. “We want to provide actionable steps to equip you and your team to thrive in adversity.”
Workshops will be held Wednesday, June 8, in Kearney, Nebraska, and Wednesday, June 22, in Garden City, Kansas. Attendees will hear presentations on a variety of topics from speakers Dr. Pete Anderson, Midwest PMS; Quint Finney, Midwest PMS; Dr. Nels Lindberg, PAC; and Dr. Dan Thomson, PAC and Iowa State University.
“Cattle feeders make a lot of big investments but don’t always focus on the most important investment they can make – their people,” says Dr. Pete Anderson, Midwest PMS. “The workshops will provide practical education that feedyard employees can put to work immediately.”
Topics of discussion will include:
- Creating and leading high-performing teams
- Setting goals for your feeding program
- Dealing with difficult employees
- The human side of feedyard work
- Animal health – what does success look like?
- How outside forces are shaping the cattle industry
“Acquiring, developing and retaining high-performing people to build high-performing teams remains one of our industry’s biggest challenges,” says Quint Finney, Midwest PMS. “This year’s workshops will continue to address these challenges and will continue to focus on operational results.”
Each session will take place from 1-6 p.m., followed by a group dinner and conversation. Cost to attend is $300 per person, including dinner. To learn more and register, visit www.pacdvms.com/feedyardeducation.
